Reading the Bible over and over again offers fresh wisdom from age-old Scriptures. Sometimes, I read passages that are not necessarily “personal” but offer me valuable truths I dare not disregard. I heard from a friend before, upon my prodding she read the Bible after our sharing, that she read Psalms at home as fulfillment of her task. I asked her why. She couldn’t give me a straight answer, so I answered her.

“Because you will find soothing words there.”

She gave a nod, not refuting my words which appeared truthful in her case.

Reading the Bible should never just satisfy ourselves. It is one of the ways God talks to us, and whenever we insist on “listening” only to what we want to hear, reading it is senseless.

So I’ve decided to post some verses God gives me daily that are less “people-pleasing” but more truth-revealing in hopeful attempt that it will increase the wisdom of more people about the Word of God.

James 1:22 is probably the favorite bookmark verse of every believer who, in actuality, takes the leaps and bounds of faith just to follow God’s Word to the last letter.

I am one of those. True, I get to stumble and fall at times, but I never let my slip or fall stay with me to the point of ineptitude.

This is for those who actually take in the hard times - and the good times - just to make sure Jesus is not crucified over and over again because of one’s sin.

This is for those who, without doubt and humour, will really die for Jesus and the fulfillment of His word in his/her life.

This is for us.

We don’t boast for men. Our boasting is in the Lord, our God.

This is actually my testament to serving God. I am a worker of our church, and for three years now, I’ve journeyed in my faith that I know there is no other way than the way that follows Jesus’ path.

If you’re a servant like me, never give up.

If you haven’t started yet, you know what to do.

Sometimes, what I find wrong in some believers is that most of them are afraid of showing off their faith to other people. In simple praying before eating, experiences of finger-pointing never escape a typical, shy believer and it saddens me that a small utterance of gratitude for God’s blessings is already hard to stand on.

How much more in times of persecution, of pressure, of decision-making, more so, times when one is alone and the enemy is on his full battle gear to wage a war against one’s belief? How much can such a shy believer take?

So I made this gradient to attest to everyone that I am not afraid of praying, more so, be seen praying.

We pray three times a day to establish holiness and righteousness in our lives, and oftentimes, I would be caught in places where it is impossible not to be seen praying to God.

I’ve prayed in a subway, a train, a public jeepney, a sidewalk, a mall, a restaurant, in front of my unbelieving comrades while eating, in the office, and the one place I will never forget was when I had the chance to pray side by side a Muslim during our afternoon prayer time in the departure area of an international airport. It dawned on me how unashamed they are in doing it. Why then are some believers afraid of showing it off? Is it because of what Jesus said in Matthew 6:6? I don’t think we should use it to mask our own subtle shame. If praying, which we do not do to show off, can be used as a way to transform unbelievers into our ways, then why be afraid of doing it? Our boldness is our own testament that our lives are so-filled with God’s power and grace that we cannot simple shut it for ourselves.

We should be bold, alive and ever more influential to others. If others don’t find it easy to be around us because of this, then praise God all the more because we are becoming more and more like Jesus and less and less like this world.

There are long discussions on FAITH. Hebrews 11 itself of full of litanies about it. This is particularly very personal to me now, because our apostle (we are apostolic, just in case you still haven’t noticed) teaches faith in series lately.

And I have desired for something to happen for months - no years - now. If I have no faith, everything I’ve done, all that I have suffered are for nothing.

Praise God for the litanies. Praise God for the sermons. Praise God for the Word.

I got this when I felt like giving up. I need more patience on something I’m waiting for. Patience seems to be God’s Word for me for, like, ever.

Gradients

Gradients inspire me. Sometimes, I would dream of them. Sometimes, I would search for great combinations and oftentimes experiment on some, and fail on some. When I first workd as a layout artist back in 2009, I realised that creating color compliments is one of my weaknesses. My own wardrobe will attest to my lack of eyes for complimentaries. I would root for the extremes, often to the dismay of my personal spiritual mentor.

So I decided to create some gradient exercises for myself. Some of them I made using the pre-set ones made by Adobe, and some made by me.

I will be posting gradients alongside verses that God gives me.
